Sacrificial Tie Rod: Definition & Purpose

A sacrificial tie rod (or tie bar) is a temporary tensioning device used in concrete formwork systems to hold opposing formwork panels (e.g., walls, columns) together during concrete pouring. It is designed to be partially or fully embedded in concrete and often sacrificed (left in place or cut off) after demolding, unlike reusable tie rods.
